The International Association of Chiefs of Police was founded in 1893. Works to improve services, develop best practice operational and administrative, to improve cooperation among police departments, assist with recruitment and training and make sure that police officers have high standards of performance. Programs like the system of Uniform Crime Report can be attributed to the association, which required the use of national identification by fingerprint. His criminal identification files were used in the ’20s to create an FBI Identification Division. In 1992, the association’s headquarters is now in a five-storey building in Alexandria, Virginia.
