The suburbs, “the new album by Canadian band Arcade Fire, debuted in first place in the U.S. charts on Wednesday (11), after selling 156,000 copies in its week of release.
The band’s third album is one of the biggest premieres of independent bands in the charts, surpassing the mark of “Contra,” Vampire Weekend’s album, and second only to Backspacer, Pearl Jam, 2008.
Furthermore, the Arcade Fire, the record label Merge hired exceeded the rapper Eminem, who took second place with his album “Recovery” (which is approaching the mark of two million units sold) and group Avenged Sevenfold, who led the charts last week and is now in third place with her album “Nightmare.
Completing the top five of Billboard’s album for the rapper Bun B are in fourth turn with the newly released “Thrill OG” and Rick Ross, in fifth with “Teflon Don”.
