High School Musical

When characters Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez, who did not know, had to get up on stage to sing “prophetic” song “Start of Something New” (“The Start of Something New”) on a year-end party they never knew what was coming. And much less Disney, which had just created a true pop phenomenon of global dimensions, the movie “High School Musical.”

With a small budget, the musical released on TV in 2006 used a formula exploited beyond the small screen and big screens throughout the ages: teen + vacation + love school. It also took the high doses of sugar and good-guy attitude, unknown actors and cute pop ballads, accompanied by many choreographies.

This misturinha basic, well executed and made public, was more than enough to make millions of preteens (or tweens as the market started to call the children between eight and 12 years) who had never attended a musical done especially for them, stay instantly glazed with “novelty”. The film was watched by over one hundred million viewers worldwide and became the most successful original production of Disney history. The soundtrack hit record in 2006 to sell nearly seven million records. That same year, the DVD also sold seven million copies. Won two Emmy Awards for Best Children’s Program and choreography, among many others.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

Troy and Gabriella came together the last year of college, but going to college can separate them. The third feature film High School Musical discusses this transition in the lives of teenagers and the uncertainties and anxieties it brings. Sure it does so in style that established the series: with music, dances and conflicts juveniles treated in a very lightweight. Unlike the two previous versions that were made for TV, the third film was produced for the cinema with worldwide release in October 2008.
